What is' Mort The Intern'?
Remember your first job?
Afterlife Ferries, LLC, is the premier company for handling all of your afterlife destination needs. Their newest intern is Mort, a feisty young soul eager to begin his career. However, Mort is finding that the life of an intern isn't all it's cracked up to be. Already detesting his work - which mostly consists of doing crap no one else wants to do - he gets his big break when it's discovered that a mix-up has sent a number of souls to their wrong intended afterlife destination. Mort's boss, wanting this sorted out as quickly and quietly as possible, sends Mort to resolve this unfortunate error. It's still not a glamorous job; the terrain of the afterlife isn't the most work friendly. But it could be the break Mort needs.
Enough of that, how does it play?
Yep, it's yet another Indie 2D Platformer.
Fluid, automatic grapple hook mechanics. You don't need to worry about your aim, as the grapple hook automatically locks on
Certain grapple points temporarily enhance Mort's abilities! Double jumps, switches, and more are embedded in the swing points.
Non-linear exploration. Explore Heaven and Hell at your own pace, looking for the misplaced souls.
Hand drawn comic book pages, for story points and stuff
Spikes!
Around eight tough as nails areas planned, plus an undetermined number of HARD MODE levels
And lava!
Amazing soundtrack by Jimmy Hinson, co-composer on Mass Effect 2, and composer for multiple indie game such as Pax 10 finalist, PuzzleJuice.
Your levels suck! Can I make my own?
Yes, a comprehensive level editor is currently in the works. I'm hoping to get as much feedback from the community as possible to make it the best level editor I can.
OMG, this is awesome! Take my money!
The game is actually currently available in Desura's alphafunding program. For the duration of the game being in alpha, it'll be on sale for 30% off. If you really are interested in the game, and want to help out an aspiring developer mold a game to be the best it can possibly be, then head over here:
OMG, this is terrible! You shouldn't even be making games!
That's a pretty mean thing for you to say. Please keep in mind that the game is very much in a very early alpha state, and there are a number of things that need to be improved. For instance, a lot of the art in the game is also currently in the process of being redone. If this game isn't your thing, that's fine. But if it mildly interests you, I welcome any sort of constructive feedback that will make the game better!
