I'm back from Golarion and the Abyss. This game was massive. I spent a few hundred hours on it.

I tried to stay away from _major_ spoilers in this review. Endings, secret companions, etc. are censored. But there are minor spoilers, and a few big ones for the main story in Act 3. (There are 5 Acts.) I'd say that makes the review moderate on spoilers.

I only used some DLC; I didn't use any mods. But be aware that there are many out there. For example, Woljif Jefto isn't a romance-able character, and so people made a mod for that. The Toybox mod is also very popular, and is described as, "a cute and playful mod with 500+ cheats, tweaks and quality of life improvements."

EDIT: In the review, I said that I didn't try the *"Through the Ashes" DLC.* It's a stand-alone DLC. The goal is simply to band together with townspeople, and to try to survive a demonic attack on a city.

I've tried "Through the Ashes," now. But, I think it's not worth doing a separate review on. Basically, its writing was bad enough that I stopped playing the DLC almost immediately. Here's why:

1. A pop-up window says the player gets no exp for combat, and should thus avoid unnecessary combat.
2. Immediately after that pop-up notice, a "rabid dog" is attacking its owner. He mourns it if you kill it, says "Leafy" was friendly but just scared, and he mournfully insists that you should've used a non-violent solution.
3. Obviously, the game just implied non-violent solutions exist for the dog encounter. They don't. I checked. You HAVE to kill his pet, and many other pets, quite brutally. No creativity/non-violent solutions are permitted in those situations.

The game's tutorial telling the player to explore non-violent solutions, and then FORCING violent solutions immediately, was both a bizarre and weak introduction. I thought it was going to be akin to a "This War of Mine" scenario, but instead, it had a weak intro followed by that BS.

πŸ“ Audio Used πŸ“
Several songs which are not in the game, from the YouTube Audio Library, were used in this review to liven it up. After all, the OST isn't free to use, and the review is long.

So while there is some game audio, I suggest listening to the OST if you want a real feel of the game's soundtrack. Owlcat has generously shared that on YouTube, so feel free to check it out:

Searching for voiced clips can also give you a good idea of the voice actors' skills, but be warned: since voiced lines aren't very common in the game, that will likely open the door for big spoilers. That said, Regill, Daeran, Greybor, Nenio, and other characters do have some good lines.
***Fun note:*** The voiced line in my review about "this thing" not working was part of the actual scene. Tho it fits perfectly for that moment, that's not an edit made by me in post. It's serendipity: Daeran's voiced "bark" for a spell not working.

πŸ“ƒ Non-Game Audio Used, In Order (if used again later on, then I've noted that with an 'times X'.)

βšͺ Technical Oopses:
Hopefully the audio sounds better overall. Tried some new techniques this time. But, there are two mistakes on the audio:
1. I'm aware that sometimes I sound weird when I say "Camellia." I had to rerecord those bits since I originally was in fantasy-name mode in my brain, and said her name incorrectly almost every single time. By the time I realized the mistake, the video was almost done. I tried rerecording but couldn't match the original audio perfectly in every case.
2. I'm also aware of a sound blip near the Hog of Destruction. I think I missed trimming the audio by a second, but it's not worth it to me to reupload over that.
