First of three old videos I found while perusing the lost depths of my hard drives. These serve as examples for why I decided to "go big, go home, and come back with stuff to go even bigger" in designing VertBuild. I'm a strategy and sandbox survival gamer more than any other genres, with RPG elements mixed in. But above all, I just love to build things. The bigger, the better. Until it reaches the point where I can't get double digit framerates.
These are some speed builds (yes, speed builds, not even the more elaborate designs I'd done) from years ago that might serve to explain exactly why, as a developer, I am striving for seemingly absurd performance targets and flexibility in VertBuild: Because this is the kind of stuff I love to make in these games.
