I don't spend much time talking about the practice of making YouTube videos, but this topic has been on my mind lately and I wanted to get some opinions from other creators. How do you get your gameplay footage? Is it all yours? Do you borrow some from other channels? And when you do borrow do you ask and/or credit?
As someone who makes a lot of list-type videos which include small amounts of footage from multiple games, it's not always feasible to record every clip I want to use myself. When it comes to borrowing I ask "how much work was put into this clip I want to use?" Is it just a cinematic that the uploader has had no impact on? Is it an edited product that work was put into? Is it gameplay that takes some unique skill or practice that I do not possess myself?
Let me know your thoughts on the topic. And feel free to use any gameplay footage I've uploaded in your own videos.
