Are video games heading towards a monopolistic future where corporate visions dominate and all we get are releases of the same game over and over again? Will gamers be herded into tribalistic metaverses and “encouraged” to distrust anyone from other corporate social platforms? Will creative and imaginative games be relegated to indie development only, with strict budgets and nigh-on impossible deadlines? Will corporate executives play judge and jury over what actually constitutes as “a good game”?
