A look at the demo for Garden Story, as part of The Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition.

This a super cute Adventure RPG/Farming Sim type game, sort of a mix between Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley as far as I can tell. The pixel art and animations are adorable, and it's got a lot of charm and a nice atmosphere. Seems like the kind of game you'd just play for a bit every now and then, completing a few requests, collecting loot in the dungeon, building new structures, or meeting new people. All that said, during this demo I did feel it drag ever so slightly. The inventory management seems like it could get very frustrating if there doesn't end up being some mechanic or mitigate that. The pace overall is also just very slow and the combat very simplistic here at the start. It's hard to tell how much it'd grip me in the full version, but I overall enjoyed it and will be interested to see where it goes.
