Interactive storytelling differs from that of traditional media in its dual nature: an emergent narrative resulting from the interaction of the player with the game design, plus an embedded narrative precreated by the developers. A clash is bound to happen so, in order to regulate the relationship between both narratives, our role as narrative designers arises. But can we make a difference at all?
