STORY :
The story of “Gears of War” thrusts gamers into a deep and harrowing battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surfaced from the bowels of the planet. Players live and breathe the role of Marcus Fenix. A disgraced former war hero, Marcus seeks personal redemption as he leads his fire team against an onslaught of merciless warriors from below.
ACT 1 : Ashes
As the game opens 14 years after Emergence Day, former soldier Marcus Fenix is freed from the Jacinto Maximum Security Prison by his close friend, Dominic Santiago, who needs Fenix's help in the fight against the Locust. Both manage to escape the prison moments before it is destroyed by a Corpser, and then meet up with the other members of Delta Squad, Anthony Carmine and Minh Young Kim.
They receive orders to find Alpha Squad and secure possession of the "Resonator", a device intended to map out the Locust underground tunnel network for the Lightmass Bomb.

Kisah "Gears of War" mendorong para gamer ke dalam pertempuran yang dalam dan mengerikan untuk bertahan hidup melawan Gerombolan Belalang, ras makhluk mimpi buruk yang muncul dari perut planet. Pemain hidup dan menghirup peran Marcus Fenix. Seorang mantan pahlawan perang yang dipermalukan, Marcus mencari penebusan pribadi saat dia memimpin tim pemadam kebakarannya melawan serangan prajurit tanpa ampun dari bawah.
ACT 1 : Ashes
Saat permainan dibuka 14 tahun setelah Emergence Day, mantan tentara Marcus Fenix dibebaskan dari Penjara Keamanan Maksimum Jacinto oleh teman dekatnya, Dominic Santiago, yang membutuhkan bantuan Fenix untuk melawan Locust. Keduanya berhasil melarikan diri dari penjara beberapa saat sebelum dihancurkan oleh Corpser, dan kemudian bertemu dengan anggota Delta Squad lainnya, Anthony Carmine dan Minh Young Kim.
