Gems of War: Negative Status Effects Explained
Hello everyone! Today I explain all 11 of the current negative status effects in Gems of War.
Things to note about status effects:
- With the exception of poison, all status effect naturally cleanse at a 10% cumulative chance. First turn it is 10% chance for automatic cleanse, then 20%, then 30%. Placing another status effect of any kind onto the troop will reset it back to 10%.
- When casting an ability, damage is done BEFORE the status effect. This means something that has faerie fire on cast will not be able to utilize the 50% extra damage on the first hit, nor would a stun disable the enemy’s traits before the damage.
- Any troop with the impervious trait is immune to all of these and any future negative status effects.
All 11 Negative status effects:
Burning: 3 damage per turn. Can cause lethal damage. Will only remove barrier once armor is depleted.
Death Mark: After a 1 turn delay, 10% chance to instantly kill each turn. Barrier can protect against it.
Disease: 50% less mana accumulation. Only works on mana accumulated via the board. Things like enchant’s 2 mana per turn and “give all allies X mana” will give the full amount of mana even if diseased.
Entangle: Reduces attack to 0 for its duration. Also prevents attack stat from being increased and decreased.
Faerie Fire: 50% more damage when inflicted with spell damage.
Freeze: Will cause the enemy to lose extra turns based on any of the following conditions. 1: Frozen troop cannot gain an extra turn when ability states “gain an extra turn”. 2: All colors associated with the troop will not count as an extra turn when taking 4x+ matches. 3: If the front-most troop on the opposing team is frozen, 4x+ skull matches will not count as an extra turn.
Hunter’s Mark: 100% extra damage when inflicted with skull damage. This also includes boosting skulls when they are destroyed or exploded.
Poison: 50% chance per turn to do 1 true damage. This 1 true damage can cause lethal. This 1 true damage can also remove barrier. Alternatively, this negative status effect can be used as a positive status effect on troops that have a trait that triggers when taking damage.
Silence: Prevents the inflicted troop from casting and gaining mana. Mana instead goes into the next troop of the applicable color.
Stun: Prevents traits from being used. This WILL NOT undo traits that trigger only once at the start of battle.
Web: Reduces magic to 0 for its duration. Also prevents magic stat from being increased and decreased.
