Following his high school graduation, Gene Snyder immediately went to work for a local TV station in his hometown of Parkersburg, W. Virginia. This lead to his radio career which in 1960 brought him to Louisville, Ky to work for radio WINN. Late in 1961 he became a disc jockey for radio WAKY and in 1962 while working at WAKY Gene and his wife Vi started the Joni Booking Agency, which was to become a well known local agency throughout the sixties.
