This is a very brief showcase of the Inventory Manipulation Glitch in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest for the SNES. This glitch has MANY uses, but in this short video, I will demonstrate how to give yourself both the Sun Coin and the Sky Coin without doing the related quests. It's an awesome trick for speedruns!

The first step of the trick to give yourself 99 Sky Coins involves some inventory manipulation. Drink all of your Heal Potions and Cure Potions, then eat all of your Seeds to give yourself three consecutive empty slots in the top left of your inventory. If your Refreshers are somewhere in one of those slots, it can be a pain in the butt since those can't be used outside of battle, but you CAN get rid of them.

When you have three empty slots in the top left of your inventory, buy ZERO Seeds, then ZERO Cure Potions from any vendor. The easiest place to do this is in the Hotel in Fireburg, but you have to go to a vendor that sells these items, press LEFT on the D-Pad when selecting an amount to buy, and choose to purchase ZERO of that item.

Now you should have two icons in your inventory for the 0 Seeds and 0 Cure Potions you bought. If you use one of these items, it will underflow to 255! The game will display that you have 99, but it's actually 255. What you want to do here, though is use a Cure Potion to underflow its value, then buy another ZERO Seeds.

Once you have 0 Seeds and "99" Cure Potions in your inventory IN THAT ORDER, use a Seed, and the 99 Cure Potions should turn into 99 Sky Coins! You'll need to use the Sky Coin in battle before it becomes usable as a quest item, but there you have it!

Furthermore, after manipulating your inventory in such a way that the top four slots of your inventory are filled with Seeds, Sky Coins, Heal Potions, and Refreshers, you can also generate other quest items. For example. when I buy TWO Cure Potions in this situation, the game will remove some quest items from my inventory and replace them with the Sun Coin!

Generally removing quest items from your inventory is no big deal after you've used them once already. But hey, getting a Sun Coin for free allows me to skip an entire section of the game that includes the Lava Dome and the Volcano.

I learned this trick from a Final Fantasy Mystic Quest speedrunner named @davidsingleton5432 - https://youtu.be/_JyyIQkR1uI?si=Ww5ArFB080akSZws
