Genetos- Stage 5, Programmer Dificulty
4Genetos was a game I showcased a while back in an unfinished state- the final level wasn't there. The game takes you on a journey through the generations of shooters- you start in Space Invaders and end up in danmaku. As the game evolves, so do you, and each generation brings new abilities. Since I already showcased it before, I've only uploaded the final level. Obviously, this video contains spoilers!
New to the final version is the ability to evolve different weapons systems based on how you play. If you spend a lot of time at the top of the screen for example your weapon becomes short-ranged but very powerful. If you get hit a lot, you evolve the ability to slow bullets down, and so on.
My one complaint about the game is that it's very generous with lives. On Normal (or Standard User) difficultyyou start with 15. Even on Hard (Programmer) mode you get 13 at the start of the game. Still, it's a great experience nonetheless and I wouldn't let the ease get in the way- Genetos is still as fantastic as it was when I first showcased it and a definite wirthwhile play.
