This is not a criticism of the author or the research in the article. Dr. Towers is rightly impressed by the application of mathematics and units of measurement by a pre-writing civilization.
Rather I am questioning the associations and appropriations which people carry with words such as 'advanced' and how that leads some to link unsubstantiated ideas with a site because 'It's clearly too advanced for 'x' people on their own'.
Perhaps we should be less surprised when we find competancy, accuracy and complexity in historical and prehistorical cultures?
