Getting my ass handed to me - X3 Albion Prelude - Mayhem 3 (V3.13c)
0Oh boy, many hours of gameplay lead to one extremely aggressive Split empire that steamrolled over the Teladi sectors that acted as a buffer between them and me. After two days, the Split just decided to conquer the Teladi two sectors at a time with their three Ocelot battlegroups. I didn't get enough time to research the Ocelot for my own fleet, so I had to make a quick reallocation to get the Acinonyx researched and then quickly build one.
The Split were actually heading for the Teladi sector behind my territory, but on the way through, they would deal a good amount of damage to my economy, so I tried to stall their progress as long as possible, hired mercs and luckily had some pirates helping me thanks to the pirate perk. When the battlegroup passed through my sector, my Acinonyx was ready, so I gave it some artillery guns and began chasing after the battlegroup.
One Acinonyx can't do much about an entire battlegroup, but it can launch Hit&Run strikes and pick on some ships that strayed away too far from the fleet. The first victim was one of their frigates, then I tryharded too much and chased the entire battlegroup to the Teladi sector. Little did I know, the fighter swarm they sent for me was way too much for the artillery ship to handle.
It was fun, though.
