The "GEX Trilogy" is a remake of the three classic platform adventures featuring the sarcastic gecko Gex. The collection was released digitally on June 16, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam). Physical editions have already been available for pre-order and are expected to ship later in 2025.
Contents of the GEX Trilogy:
The trilogy includes the following games:
Gex (1995): The origin of the series, a 2D platformer that presents Gex's first adventure in the Media Dimension.
Gex: Enter the Gecko (1998): The transition to 3D worlds in which Gex travels through various themed dimensions, all designed as satirical parodies of well-known TV shows and films. Here, his signature sayings and clever moves are already well established.
Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko (1999): The third and final main game in the series, featuring even more new character mechanics, disguises, and, of course, a wealth of catchphrases and celebrity impressions from comedian Dana Gould (who voices Gex in the North American version).
Trilogy Improvements and Extras:
The "GEX Trilogy" isn't just a simple emulation of the original games. Developed using Limited Run Games' Carbon Engine, it features numerous improvements and bonus content to optimize the games for modern platforms:
Native 16:9 widescreen resolution: The games are now displayed in modern widescreen format.
Improved resolution and performance: The graphics have been optimized for higher resolutions and smoother frame rates.
Brand-new analog controls: The 3D games feature completely redesigned 360-degree analog controls for more precise control. The original 8-way digital controls are also available as an option.
Rewind and Save Function: Players can rewind and save at any time.
Music Player: A comprehensive music player with all tracks from every game is included.
Museum: A collection of key artwork and classic TV commercials from the Gex games.
New Interview: A completely new interview with the voice of Gex (Dana Gould).
First release date: June 16, 2025
