Ghost in the Shell Online-first look and gameplay!
2Ghost in the Shell (GITS) online is up on Steam as early access. It likely will appear as a free to play game but right now, you can pay for one of several early access packs and play the game now. It is produced by Nexon which doesn't do too bad with F2P games.
GITS online if definitely rooted in the series. Any fan of the anime will feel right at home within GITSo. The Major and Batou's voices definitely sound like the original VAs. The rest? I can't tell but I don't think Togusa is voiced by the same actor. How is the game play?
Well, the game play seems to be a small cross between BLR and what people may think is CS or COD. I've played BLR but not the others. I'm disappointed I can't bind melee and reload to my mouse like I can in other games. You can pick up weapons from downed opponents and use them yourself. Out of map play, you can add mods to your gun similar to to BLR and also get license for other operatives. I didn't pick the Major because I figured everybody would be picking her. Surprisingly, it didn't seem that bad when I dropped into a match. I REALLY dislike that teammates can displace you on the map. A member of your own team can body you out around corners and into the line of fire. This is annoying as shit to setup only to be pushed forward when some dipshit comes walking through. I think there also could be somewhat of a better way to tell friends from foes. The minimap helps but not in the heat of combat.
I plan on trying it more soon and seeing if I like it but Dirty Bomb might be my online FPS of choice even after a more honest attempt at GITSo.
