Just in time for the holidays, I finally get around to talking about my feelings on the HAIF nerf. Basically, I think it was too extreme. I think that there could have been much smaller baby steps that would have worked while allowing HAIF to retain his essence.

HAIF can either do reasonable damage or he can protect the team. In reality, it's hard to get him to do both since you sacrifice the 9 to one or the other mode. HIs debuff prevention was his very core and without him doing that, a wave of defensive team types is washing over us. The covert ISO on P5 Emma makes her a scary presence on the battlefield. Fortunately, we have some counters but HAIF of course was the best. Sadly, this change has PVE ramifications too. It does ruin a lot of boss strategies but maybe something will come along before the next time we need what old HAIF gave us.
