0Project_Hel, the upcoming DLC expansion to Ghostrunner, 2020’s million-selling first-person parkour cyberpunk action game, launches on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Amazon Luna, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG on March 3, 2022.
Leap and slash through the dystopian Dharma Tower in six new missions, this time as Hel, one of the tough-as-nails bosses from the original game. Her killer confidence and stronger exoskeleton allow her to take an extra hit, injecting a newfound sense of aggression to Ghostrunner’s one-hit-one-kill gameplay.

Project_HEL
The events in Project_HEL take place right before the main game were players control a rage-driven combat android, Hel.
Hel: Hel is a combat android created by Mara by adapting the body originally meant to be a new generation of Ghostrunners as well as a vessel for Mara’s AI copy, the same way the male-shaped Ghostrunners were meant to be vessels for Architect AI. She’s stronger, faster and tougher than a regular Ghostrunner. Hel doesn’t have any biological parts, instead being driven by a relatively simple AI cobbled together by Mara and her scientists. She’s inherently unstable, as the underlying systems meant to interact with a biological brain gradually corrupt the flawed AI by flooding it with simulated emotional responses and urges.
This mostly manifests through Hel’s hatred towards Mara, who keeps her confined/deactivated most of the time. Mara created several copies of Hel, but rarely uses them, as they’re hard to control, they deteriorate quickly while active and, above all, she abhors them for being a part of her late husband’s sick plan for artificial immortality which she strongly opposed.
Story Overview
Hel is activated and ordered by Mara to assist in an offensive against rebels at the bottom levels of the Tower. Her own, internalized goal is to kill Mara, as she perceives her to be a personal enemy (the one who enslaved her and keeps her ‘chained’). She sets out to fulfill the assigned objectives since she’s confined by her programming/mental barriers but keeps looking for loopholes and opportunities to distort the received instructions and give Mara as much trouble as possible.
