I hope you are all healthy and safe wherever you are in the World right now and whatever challenges you are facing.

I was always had an interest in some of the systems that were less successful than the mainstream. I was also interested in gaming on phones and other handheld or portable devices as you'll likely know from my other videos.

The Gizmondo is a curious beast all round and pretty much a footnote with many gamers only discovering it in recent years. It had the opportunity to carve out an interesting niche in the market with its innovative approach to subsidising he pricing using Smart Ads (something much more familiar to us now) although this never came to pass and very capable hardware for the time.

However links to organised crime and money laundering (which does explain the lavish launch party, adverts, and comically a Gizmondo store on London's Regent's Street) meant it was pretty much dead on arrival and only the initial launch games got released giving it a small library. They did do a good job of licencing titles with some well known brands present and correct. I'll try to upload videos of the games I have shortly. I have a fair amount of the games and would love to get more.

The library itself is surprisingly solid and I maintain the hardware was very capable. Had Sony released this as the PSP most gamers would have been happy enough.

I got mine shortly after the launch. The launch was March 2005 so probably about 6 months later when stores were shifting them at heavily discounted prices.

I'd love to get the remaining released games to complete the collection. There were also a few unreleased titles that got leaked online.

I'm slowly but surely getting round to sorting out my collection and intend to make similar videos as system overviews for other systems I have like the Game King, the Neo Geo Pocket, the Pico, the CDi. the 3DO and many others. If you'd like to see a longer video of the Gizmondo or it's games or any of these older systems and the games then just let me know.

I will be covering more phone games and N-Gage games shortly too.

Plus I found my old iPhone 3GS in a clear out - it still works and has loads of interesting Trial versions of software no longer on the App Store. It's hard to film it clearly though due to the touch controls.

I'm also sorting my loft and finding all sorts of obscurities, oddities and nice games from my collection so I'll be doing some random vids. Let me know if there is a console or game you'd like to see. Let me know if there are any games or consoles you'd like videos about. Let me know if you like the format (i.e. no voiceover and the addition of short facts). Want End Cards added to point out other similar videos? I'm just trying things really.

As always the video shows the original hardware and is from my own collection.

As always if you enjoy this video let me know.

As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.

Stay strong, stay safe and stay healthy - Grey Fox
