6If you add too much detail to your adventures and plan the players direction too much, things will go wrong and you could waste a lot of your time.
Instead do not add huge amounts of details, just do the following;
1) Don't think of your adventure as a linear path. Think about a series of encounters that can be completed in any order.
2) When planning an encounter record the key features of the encounter and be prepared to alter this if needed
3) Avoid actions that the characters have to do in a specific way. It is much better to record a goal and let the players suggest their own ways to reach it.
