Welcome to what is looking to be one of the biggest and best games of 2018, and perhaps the entire PS4 era, God Of War 4. I felt like this game was something special and would really benefit from the "movie treatment". I will explain briefly what that entails:
- I will be playing the game with the "minimal HUD" option enabled in order to maximise immersion. Despite this, there are still some elements that are visible on-screen. Since it is on PS4 there are no mods to remove these, though I try to edit them out when possible.
- I will be focusing on the story/journey only. The game begins in a linear fashion then expands out, offering many sidequests. Alongside these there is always the "journey"option which moves the story forward. I will always choose the story route.
- I will be playing on the "give me a story" difficulty for obvious reasons. The game has a LOT of action scenes and Boss Battles anyway, so I will editing out a lot of the smaller encounters you face as you move through the world. The actual game when played will have more action, this will be balanced a little more in favour of story.
- I have omitted subtitles because in companionship games there is often dialogue between the 2 characters as they move and I sometimes need to edit that into different places, subtitles restrict that ability to edit. This game also has unusually small subtitles that don't really play well with Youtube. If the series does well I can perhaps create some subtitles and put them up. Apologies to those who need them, and I usually try to have them in but this time I chose to go without. I'm sure many will prefer this, but I'm more than aware of those who want subs.
- I have played without the music enabled so that I could add it back in post, this allows for much cleaner, less jumpy transitions. I have added back the original OST where possible, so it should similar to the main game.
Welcome once again to the world of Kratos, as he once again faces a journey of almost impossible difficulty. To make matters worse, he must take his young and vulnerable son Atreus with him, after the passing of his wife. He has to learn fast, the bond between Father and Son will be absolutely crucial if they are to survive the journey. God Of War meets The Last Of Us...
We begin the story with a somber scene as Atreus says some words of prayer for his mother before Kratos completes the cremation ritual that will set the events of the game into motion. Atreus' mother has told them that they must take her ashes and scatter them at the peak of the highest mountain, but before the pair can embark on their trip the boy must be trained and toughened up for the road ahead. Unfortunately, circumstances will dictate that Atreus is flung onto the fast track, and learn to fight and survive without the comfort of being around his own home in the woods.
An epic journey awaits, I'm very much looking forward to it!
