God of War: Ascension - Chapter 21 chain skip v2
30A faster version to skip fixing the chain, and all you need for it is the Shield.
I'm slightly surprised this wasn't already found earlier. I guess one big source of confusion here is that, as long as the chain remains unbroken, there is a large and oddly shaped invisible wall preventing access to the elevator. Together with the massive outer exterior of the building, it probably gave a wrong, exaggerated impression of the real size of the obstacle.
0:01 - So, grab onto the chain, pull it for just a few seconds and leave Kratos clone to hold it in place. This is necessary so that the invisible wall changes slightly, making it easier to access the wooden platform on which to stand on behind the chain.
0:09 - The key is to understand that the invisible wall in front of the doorway itself isn't too high, and can be crossed with a well-timed Shield Jump. However, if you start it too early, you'll get deflected by the building's collision and probably lose height too much to pass. In other words, here it is helpful to start from a droopy double jump to move horizontally a bit before starting the Shield Jump itself.
This trick should save at least 8-10 seconds compared to just fixing the chain normally.
0:22 - I pondered about the possibility for an extended skip where you jump out of bounds to skip the elevator intro cutscene as well. Indeed, you can go out of bounds from either side of elevator entrance with a high enough jump, and with some precise steering, you'll end up on some walkable collision underneath the elevator.
The cylinder-shaped interior of the elevator extends below the map. Depending on how you do this jump, you may end up either outside or inside it. The only way to cross from inside to outside or vice-versa is from under the doorway, but this is not easy to do because there isn't much floor there and camera is also not cooperative.
0:50 - unfortunately, even if you manage to pull off this tricky jump and get under the proper elevator area while out of bounds, it seems the elevator intro cutscene trigger fills almost the entire elevator. In this clip, I'm at the far side from the entrance, but still hit the intro cutscene while trying to high jump inside.
(Not on the vid: It's also not possible to move the elevator early by placing Kratos on a button during the intro cutscene. It seems the buttons do nothing while time is stopped. Therefore, at the moment I see no way how this intro cutscene could be skipped, besides simply levitating to the top and skipping the whole elevator...)
1:16 - after watching the intro, if you high jump underneath a button, you start pressing it even though you're below it.
