God of War Ragnarok | Unleashing Hel Part 3 | Hel-Walker | PS5 FHD

Hel-Walkers are undead warriors that appear in God of War and God of War Ragnarök.
They are excess souls from Helheim, which has become overcrowded after the Valkyries were corrupted by Odin and rendered unable to do their duties. As a result, without the Valkyries to keep the realms in balance, the number of Hel-Walkers began to grow rapidly, causing many to begin appearing in Midgard, which resulted in the Great Desolation.

They are humanoid foes with a blue and white coloration and resistance to ice. They are mostly all resistant to the Leviathan Axe's attacks, requiring either fists or the Blades of Chaos to put them down. If they are stunned, Kratos can pull them closer to deliver a punch to the stomach, then grab one of their legs to make them fall and crush their skull with his feet, creating an explosion of ice that applies Freeze status to the enemies.

Originally, there were supposed to be regular Norse warriors, in which they appear as regular enemies, but were eventually replaced by the Hel-Walkers as seen in footage from the Greenlight Demo 2015. Regular human warriors can only be fought once in the 2018 game.
In God of War Ragnarök, players can fight human raiders almost regularly in Midgard; a unique gameplay mechanic is applied on them in which dead raiders who were not mutilated in execution might quickly return as Hel-Walkers.

Hel-Walkers who recently spawned from dead humans during Fimbulwinter are rather distinct than those who are in - or came out of a rift from Hel. They attack in a rabid-like fashion, unarmed, dismissing any weapon they only recently wield as a living, and have very rudimentary yet effective form of frost magic. The Hel-Walkers are similar in nature to the White Walkers/The Others from the book series A Song of Ice and Fire, commonly known by its television adaptation, Game of Thrones. The Hel-Walkers, are feared by others for their extreme savagery and appearing in numbers. Their growing numbers is what led to Midgard being desolated.

Following the cutscene with Kratos, the scene will transition to Asgard, where Thrud will inform Atreus that Odin requests to see him in his office. So, before leaving your room, be sure to purchase any items or upgrades from the wardrobe. Then, once you’re ready, leave the room. On your way to Odin’s Office, you’ll have the chance to explore Thor and Sif’s room, as well as eavesdrop on a conversation between Sif and Thrud when listening from outside her door. However, when reaching Odin’s Office, you’ll find it empty.

With Odin not in his office, head through the door at the back of the room and make your way down the set of stairs, where you’ll find Odin working at his desk. When nearing Odin, you’ll enter a cutscene that sees him explaining his reasoning behind killing the Ymir and building his house in Asgard. After instructing Atreus and Thrud to search for the missing Mask fragment in Helheim, Heimdall will tag along, as he has his own mission to attend to in the region. Arriving in Helheim, it’s now time to find the final Mask Fragment that is hidden somewhere in Helheim. To get started, equip the Mask by pressing Left on the D-Pad, continue up the stairs, and then along the path – looting the Hacksilver chest you’ll find along the way.

Reaching an opening, you’ll encounter a small group of Hel-Walkers. Take them down with Thrud and Ingrid’s help. Once clear, loot the Resource pouch by the fallen soldier and continue over the pillar. From here, follow Thrud until you encounter another group of Hel-Reavers and Ice Nightmares that you'll need to take down. Upon clearing the area, continue along the path and turn the crank on the left side of the door to open it. Once open, continue to follow Thrud forward. Before rounding the corner and heading down the set of stairs, be sure to pick up the Hacksilver pouch before continuing.

Reaching the Docks of Vadgelmir, head along the dock. Just before you reach the large structure at the end, you’ll find a Hacksilver pouch beside a fallen soldier. When reaching the large structure, equip the Mask and head toward the steel door, where you'll learn the door is blocked.
