Playthrough of Golden Axe arcade mode through the Sega Arcade Classics 5-1 CD, where the game has the same soundtrack present in the original arcade cabinet of Golden Axe with Tyris Flare.
Tyris is the preferred character for speedrunning Golden Axe as with the a series of difficult advanced techniques performed during the run while having access to the highest magic damage in of all 3 characters makes her the best choice when it comes to it albeit very inconsistent as Gilius is much more safe and consistent. While her magic is the strongest of all the 3 characters, she takes more Magic Pots to even get out of her level 1 magic so her magic is saved only for specific boss fights unlike Gilius where you use on pretty much every boss fight and you will have your magic back during the stage. Tyris on a normal gameplay run is the middle ground character and her running attack is actually even better then Gilius which compensates for her Short sword range which is the smallest of all characters.
Since Tyris has the highest magic potency available, i will note below how much damage each level will do using the life bar system of health of the game:
Level 1 - Deals 25% of a lifebar of damage.
Level 2 - Deals 50% of a lifebar of damage.
Level 3 - Deals a whole lifebar of damage.
Level 4 - Deals a whole lifebar and a half of damage.
Level 5 - Deals 2 whole lifebars of damage.
Level 6 - Deals 2 whole lifebars and half of damage.
The Above applies to all characters.
Unknown to most people, the 2 Skeletons alongside Death Bringer can be killed. Its just their health is so high( each Skeleton has 16 health blocks while Death Bringer Himself has 8) that its believed they are invulnerable. Killing then gives you the most amount of points(for your final rank)compared to any other enemy so its worth it in the end as well as making Death Bringer easy. The method shown on the video is the best way to kill then, however since i played out of practice my timing was sloppy at times since i was able to do it before without losing a life there.
