The Lürssen 123.2-metre superyacht Golden Odyssey has been sold. The yacht was originally arrested in Malta by Deutsche Bank Luxembourg, which underwent the arrest as part of its efforts to repay a mortgage against the yacht in excess of €116 million.

The court in Malta heard how the owner, Kal Marine Limited, a Bermuda-registered company, had secured a loan from the bank in 2013 and had used the vessel as collateral. The owner had since failed to make repayments, forcing the bank to seize the vessel.

According to Times of Malta, Justice Spiteri Bailey approved the private sale of the vessel for €150 million, which was estimated to be its current market value. The vessel will be bought by East Thrive Peace Limited, incorporated in the British Virgin Islands and represented in Malta by lawyer Nicholas Valenzia. The sale will be the largest sum ever fetched for a yacht in a judicial sale in Malta.
