Golden VGM #881 - Kirby's Rainbow Paintbrush ~ C-R-O-W-N-E-D
- DESCRIPTION:
I find I enjoy the Kirby spinoffs more so than the main titles in the series. They seem like very experimental games, but I admire them for taking risks that way, and trying new things each time. Unfortunately, using the word "experimental" implies some of them don't always work, and such is sadly the case with the Paintbrush games. Both Power Paintbrush and Rainbow Paintbrush have incredibly awkward control schemes and are just all-around not fun to play. I'm especially disappointed by Rainbow Paintbrush that, being the first spiritual successor to a spinoff title, did not improve on the first one whatsoever beyond having a cool claymation style.
I will give it this though, it also has fantastic music. Not only just original tracks, but it also has a wide foray of rearrangements from tracks of many previous Kirby games. Including this awesome remix of C-R-O-W-N-E-D - what you guys voted as the currently best Kirby song - with a fantastic use of electric guitar and orchestra.
