Google+ being forced on us!

First, they began forcing us to use Google+ with our youtube account. Next, the inbox button disappeared for Google+ users. Now, I've had this pop up on one of my non Google+ linked accounts.

I'm not sure what this means for Youtube, though I'm going to miss the days when I could quickly and easily swoop down on any questions people asked on any one of my 300 videos. Now it appears I have to use Google+ as a sort of home-page to view new messages, or worse still, load up my email.

Has this notification page been around for a while, or has it only just appeared in the last hour? If anybody else knows anything about this then please share it in the comments below. I'm afraid I won't be able to see it, though I'll try my best to check regularly.
