Reading from the First Letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians 4:9-11
Psalm 97
Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew 25:14-30
Jesus told his disciples this parable:
"A man, going on a journey, called his servants and put them in charge of his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.
The one who had received five talents went immediately to trade with them and made five more. The one who had received two did likewise and made two more. Instead, the one who had received one talent went and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.
After a long time, the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came and presented him with five more, saying,
"Master, you left me five talents; look, I have gained five more."
His master said to him,
"Well done, good and faithful servant! Because you have been faithful over a very small matter, I will give you a high position; enter into the joy of your master."
Then the one who had received two talents came and said,
"Master, you left me two talents; look, I have gained two more."
His master said to him,
"Well done, good and faithful servant! Because you have been faithful over a very small matter, I will give you a high position; enter into the joy of your master."
The one who had received the one talent came forward and said,
“Master, I knew you were demanding, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter. I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the ground. Here is yours.”
The master replied,
“You lazy and careless employee! Did you know that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter? You should have put my money in the bank, so that when I came, I could collect my share with interest. Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten. For to him who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And throw that worthless employee outside into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.https://www.facebook.com/haypoderentiihttps://www.tiktok.com/@haypoderentiii
