Plot Summary:
The story begins with Michael and Trevor involved in a failed bank heist in North Yankton, which leads to Michael faking his death. Years later, Michael is living a new life in witness protection when he meets Franklin. After Franklin impresses Michael by helping him out, they begin working together.
As the game progresses, Michael is forced back into a life of crime when he angers a corrupt federal agent and a powerful Mexican drug lord. He reteams with Trevor, who discovers that Michael is alive. Though their reunion is tense, the trio, along with Franklin, embark on a series of high-stakes heists to achieve their goals, from robbing jewelry stores to government facilities.
The tension between Michael, Franklin, and Trevor builds, especially as Trevor becomes increasingly unstable, and their personal goals clash. The game’s multiple endings depend on the player’s choice as Franklin:
Kill Trevor: Franklin chooses to kill Trevor, ending his unpredictable violence, but leaving Michael and Franklin uneasy about their future.
Kill Michael: Franklin kills Michael under pressure from Trevor and others, feeling guilty afterward but left to continue his life of crime with Trevor.
Deathwish (Canon Ending): Franklin decides to save both Trevor and Michael, and they take down their enemies together. The trio successfully eliminates all their adversaries, including corrupt agents and mobsters, allowing them to walk away from their criminal lives, at least for the moment.
Throughout the game, players experience a satirical take on American society, involving various corrupt institutions, street crime, and absurd characters. The game combines thrilling heists, character-driven drama, and the vast open world of San Andreas, providing a complex and immersive narrative.
