Graphical Evolution of Hanse Games (1986-2018)
Evolution of all Hanse games from 1986-2018!
A series of managerial simulations involving the Hanseatic League.
Hanse is a managerial strategy game set in the 14th century. The player takes the role of an ambitious citizen who wants to become the mayor of Lübeck. To reach this goal he has to get rich by trading with other cities of the Hanseatic League.
The basic gameplay principle is simple: shipping salt and exchanging it for other goods which then can be sold in Lübeck for a good price. This means the current salt price is the most important part when planning shipments (besides the weather). Of course the player also has to purchase and maintain other things, e.g. a trading station, ships and cannons. Alternatively the player can also participate in smuggling.
When using the game alone, the player competes against an AI opponent. He sometimes attacks the player's trading stations which results in a fight scene in which the player has to place his cannons so they destroy the attacking ships during the automatic attack phase. There are also other similar sequences and random occurrences like weddings or disasters that may force the player to react. The game is completely menu driven and offers multiplayer for up to six people.
Hanse makes you a trader in the 13th Century. Your hometown is Lübeck – a well known German seaport. With a ship and some money you want to become mayor of Lübeck. For this you must open stores in other cities – for example Riga, Malmö or Nowgorod. Every town has a special good (wool, furs or honey). After returning to Lübeck you sell these goods for a variable price. In Lübeck is a dockyard. There you can buy new ships. In Lübeck is also a bank for taking a credit. After marrying a woman and becoming childs you have to buy a teacher for your kids. You can send your childs on a expedition to find new cities. But after your death one kid should be in Lübeck. Then this child take possession of your store. Sometimes you were attacked by pirates or another countries. Then you have to place your cannons on a small strategic map for a automatically fight.
The game ends after 250 years or when you become mayor of Lübeck or no child can take possession of your store.
Hanse 1480: Das Vermächtnis is the successor of Hanse: Die Expedition and is a managerial strategy game set in the 15th century. The player runs a transportation business which trades 16 goods from and to a dozen cities in the North and Baltic Seas. Profits are invested into the expanding of the fleet, crew and business offices. The most important thing to think of are the buying and selling prices of the goods in the cities to deduct profitable routes.
During the transits there are many pirate attacks which have to be fought off in an action game. In this game the player simply clicks with the mouse to position the ship and fire broadsides at the pirates. The game is played with four competing business, either controlled by humans or the computer, and lasts from 1400 to 1480.
In "Hanse - The Hanseatic League" you play an aspiring merchant in 15th century Europe.
Your goal is to hold together and expand the trading guild of the Hanseatic League – a once powerful city union that is now fighting for its position among five other ambitious guilds.
You travel to over 20 cities all across Europe in the name of the illustrious Hanse, trade goods, expand your own fleet of ships and establish diplomatic relations. You will even get the opportunity to explore North America and lead the early European settlements to greatness through business and diplomacy.
Trade with over 100 different goods and help the Hanse achieve untold power and riches. Secure the support of political allies through strategic marriages and thus establish a successful merchant dynasty of your own.
