Gravity Circuit: Title Screen & Tutorial
It is no rough speculation that Mega Man has been quite an influential franchise on its own. One that's VERY popular to take after in the indie scene of today.
I had covered one of such Mega Man-inspired games early in Berserk Boy. But then I had encountered another game that was actually released beforehand...
This is Gravity Circuit from Domesticated Ant Games, and just like Berserk Boy, it's a pretty kickass game that doesn't just take after Mega Man, but does its own unique and fun spins to it while still proudly wearing its inspiration on its sleeves!
A lot of the tutorial shows this off really well, and just what kind of game makes this both similar and different from Mega Man, in general.
----------
Kai is the titular Gravity Circuit that you use in this game. He is a robot that's built like a Tokusatsu hero, and fights a lot like one, too.
Rather than shooting, he fights mainly with punches and kicks. You get different moves from his basic attack depending on whether you're on the ground, in the air, and/or holding Up or Down.
Some of his movement options include Sliding like the original Mega Man, but also Wall Sliding and Wall Jumping like Mega Man X.
However, the thing that makes Kai stand out the hardest from his inspirations is his Hookshot. You can use this thing to hang from ceilings and swing yourself across long gaps. You can even use this offensively to attack and grab enemies and certain projectiles from a longer distance.
Speaking of which, enemies have two phases of defeat: If they turn gray, they get stunned, where then you can grab them and use them as projectiles, themselves!
However, if they suffer too much damage beyond that, they will become Overkilled and turned red, no longer allowing you to grab them so they can finally blow up and die.
Lastly, for more combat options, Kai can use Burst Techniques, after gaining enough Burst Energy from defeating enemies and containers.
The tutorial will give you unlimited Burst Energy and a set of Burst Techniques to practice, but you won't start out with this moves when you start the game proper.
More on that later, once I REALLY get this run going!
