Gravity (2013) directed by Alfonso Cuarón is an extremely well executed space survival thriller. I would call this one a bottle location film, but then again, space is quite vast isn't it.

Astronauts Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) & Matt Kowalski (George Clooney) are having some friendly banter in space when mission control informs them to abort their mission due to incoming debris. The debris comes from a Russian satellite which has been destroyed; and the shrapnel heads faster than a speeding bullet towards their ship. Everyone on the ship dies except for Ryan & Matt, and they now have to try and survive their unfortunate circumstances. Ryan deals with old grief of losing her daughter and considers giving up, but she ultimately finds purpose in herself and decides she wants to keep living.

Gravity is an emotionally impactful, well acted, thrill ride. The film goes by at an incredible pace, and it will be over before you know it. The visuals are immersive and realistic. The two characters are fleshed and you will care about them out despite our limited time spent with them.

Gravity was nearly a perfect film but I did find some things to complain about (as is my duty). The first is that while the intense action scenes are very good, they are pretty much the same caliber as each other and never progress or evolve in terms of intensity or peril; meaning there is no true climax as they are all equally climactic throughout. The second and final gripe is I would argue the ending is quite safe and not that respectable / interesting. Other than these two things though I felt the film was working extremely well throughout and went by like a breeze.

Gravity is one of the better sci-fi survival films on the market. I highly recommend giving it a watch.
