"Godzilla" (1998) directed by Roland Emmerich is so dull and pointless. It is a painfully uninteresting film who's visuals do not hold up today and probably didn't hold up on the day it released either, meaning there is no value here whatsoever.

The French government accidentally mutate a lizard nest and create Godzilla. Dr. Niko Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick) is sent by the U.S. government to study the beast. Frenchman Philippe Roaché (Jean Reno) follows Godzilla to try and cover up his government's involvement. Niko discovers that Godzilla is asexually reproducing hundreds of offspring which will hatch soon and threaten New York City.

I'm sorry if this one is considered a classic or whatever, but I honestly hated every second of it. It has all of the issues the modern MonsterVerse films have except now the action sucks and everything looks cheap and terrible. The fact this film's poster is Godzilla's foot could not be more accurate, this really felt like a foot simulator at times because we are constantly looking at Godzilla's feet in an attempt to save budget and make it look less stupid. The human characters completely uninterested me and there was far too many scenes with Niko that it almost felt like a sequel to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986).

The movie felt derivative of "Jurassic Park" (1993) in it's creature design, action scenes, and protagonist character. The film is titled Godzilla but you hardly spend any time with it and when you do it's with it's feet. The love interest character is annoying and really demonstrated how sappy and tropey the dialogue was. There is no tension whatsoever from start to finish because the actors put on these blatantly fake surprised face reactions to green screen objects that are clearly not in the same room with them.

The 1998 Godzilla film is one of the worst films I've seen personally because of how dull and uninteresting it is. I guess the director thought his movie was worthy of being longer than 2 hours which is pretty funny to me but also inconvenient since I don't review films without finishing them, and this one was particularly difficult to sit through and complete.
