Undertale is a surprisingly wicked journey taking place in a fascinating world. Forge your own destiny and decide whether you will slay everyone or try to save them.

Humans and monsters were at war over a misunderstanding but humanity won and banished the monsters to the underground, sealed by a magic barrier. You play as Frisk, a human child who falls down to the underground and begins to meet the colorful cast of monster characters in their new society. Frisk meets Toriel, who acts like an adoptive mother to Frisk. Frisk must decide whether to destroy all of the monsters in brutal genocide or to try and save them.

Undertale is a very intriguing game with a high interest universe and lore. The story is purposefully ambiguous and that is part of the fun. There are a few major branching paths to ensure your playthrough will play differently depending on your actions. The game may appear childish at first but it's actually quite sadistic beneath the surface.

The art style is very pleasing to look at and easy to enjoy. The gameplay functions well and is quirky and unique. The combat is one of a kind and perfectly executed. If I had anything to say bad about the game it would be the phoned-in PlayStation trophy list which makes you press the same button 350 times and then rewards you with a platinum called "Don't You Have Anything Better to Do" which I found slightly insulting as it implies achievement hunting is any more of a waste of time than just playing games casually, but that will not factor in to the score whatsoever as it's very small and I am also making this review for Steam and not just PlayStation.

Undertale is a fantastically written and designed game start to finish. It deserve all of the praise it gets and more.
