Gravity + Tailwind Giratina - VGC 2016 Episode 1 | Pokemon Showdown
My first video on VGC 2016 (Video Game Championships), the competitive doubles platform officially endorsed by Nintendo. In this ep, I use my Giratina/Kangaskhan/Groudon/Ditto core team, which has proved to be fairly successful. Apologies if it's too obvious I had a bad cold when I made this.

The team:
Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- Precipice Blades
- Rock Slide
- Overheat
General damage dealer, designed to hit hard and check Xerneas. Max Speed + Tailwind to outspeed all except when Trick Room is in effect.
Wigglytuff @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Competitive
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Flamethrower
- Helping Hand
- Dazzling Gleam
Not really used much, Wigglytuff is mainly there to dissuade the opponent from bringing Salamence, Landorus-T and Mawile. Every time someone brings an Intimidate mon out against Wigglytuff, it gets +2 Special Attack. 2 STAB spread moves to clean up and Flamethrower for Ferrothorn/Amoonguss/Mawile. Helping Hand for games where it doesn't get the boost from Competitive. Might be worth running Protect over Hyper Voice.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Protect
- Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Gunk Shot
General strong mon aimed at checking others' restricted legends - Kyogre, Xerneas, Rayquaza and then also Lando/Salamence. Not usually used.
Your Hubris (Ditto) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Imposter
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Transform
-
-
-
Here to hopefully clone someone else's restricted legend or Mega, with added Focus Sash to be even better than theirs. Min Speed to help check Trick Room teams if there is no Pokemon opposite.
True Friend (Giratina) @ Mental Herb
Ability: Pressure
Level: 50
EVs: 12 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD / 236 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tailwind
- Gravity
- Safeguard
- Draco Meteor
Support Giratina. Faster than Smeargle to set up Safeguard before it can use Dark Void, immune to Fake Out. Tailwind and Gravity help Groudon sweep. Draco Meteor for nice damage against rival Groudon, Salamence and Rayquaza.
Kangaskhan-Mega @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Double-Edge
- Low Kick
- Sucker Punch
Standard Kangaskhan, Fake Out helps Giratina set up on turn one and other moves help it dish out lots of damage after that. Scrappy is to Fake Out Gengar but Inner Focus is useful for Weavile + Thundurus teams.
