On 22 May, when the world celebrates the International Day for Biological Diversity, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) and Slovenia Green organized the third edition of the Green Day of Slovenian Tourism.
The third edition of the Green Day of Slovenian Tourism took place on 22 May, when the world celebrates the International Day for Biological Diversity. The event was organised by the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) together with Slovenia Green Consortium. This year, Green Day took place in Rogaška Slatina. On this occasion, 24 new destinations and tourism providers obtained Slovenia Green label and the so called Water Commitment was signed, expressing respect of water resources in Slovenia, especially drinking water.

Slovenia is one of the leading countries in terms of sustainable tourism, as evidenced by numerous awards, rankings at the top of the charts of the most sustainable destinations and the publication of numerous reputable and globally recognized media. In the past years, the Green Scheme of the Slovenian Tourism has received a number of awards and recognitions, including the recent one, awarded at meeting of the Asia-Pacific Tourism Association PATA.

In Rogaška Slatina, a town whose development has been influenced by globally recognizable mineral water and one of the recipients of the golden symbol of Slovenia Green Destination, this year's Green Day took place, which is considered the main event of sustainable tourism in Slovenia.

As part of the event, the ceremony took place, where 11 destinations, 12 accommodation providers and one park received Slovenia Green label, confirming successful implementation of sustainable requirements within the national certification system. There are now 48 destinations, 4 protected areas, 2 tourist agencies and 34 accommodation providers included in the scheme.

In addition, the participants of the Green Day signed the so called Water Commitment, with which they expressed their respect for water, especially drinking water, and committed themselves to respect water in undertake actions, along with their guests and partners, to preserve this special treasure of Slovenia.
