The Grid Alien, also known as “Alpha”, or “NetHead” was a Xenomorph Drone who acted as the alpha of the Antarctic Xenomorphs.
In appearance, Grid was a typical drone of the AVP 2004 design, with a black carapace and smooth head-dome.
However, it differed from the others from the wounds sustained when it was constricted in a Predator net weapon, which cut into its head and upper torso, leaving the grid scarring pattern of which it gets its name from, and it also had the end of its tail cut off during the fight.
Grid possessed sharp clawed digits on the hands and feet, a tail-barb, and an inner jaw.
This Alpha Drone Xenomorph was notably more deadly and intelligent than the others it lead, it killed 2 of the 3 YoungBlood Predators, harvested Sebastian for FaceHugger impregnation, and aided in freeing the captive Queen from her restraints.

The Grid Aliens story began after the Humans from the Antarctic expedition lead by Charles Weyland, took the Predators Plasmacaster weapons from the sarcophagus, unwittingly activating the defrosting sequence of the captive Alien Queen.
In the sacrificial chamber, the Eggs opened up, and one of the Facehuggers attacked Adele Rousseau, one of Weylands employees, and impregnated her with a Chestburster.
After being born, it quickly grew to full size within a matter of minutes, as this Xenomorph strain was bred by the Predators to mature at an enhanced rate.
The Drones then began harvesting the remaining Humans, and shortly after, one group of Humans were attacked by two Predators, one of them, named Chopper, was about to finish one of them off, when Grid approached from behind and impaled him with its tail, it then lifted him up, and killed the first YoungBlood with a head-bite.
The Grid Alien then fought the next Predator, named Celtic, at first, Grid seemed to be winning, but the Predator began to gain the upper-hand, cutting off its tail, slamming it into a pillar, and throwing it across the room.
But when Celtic charged, Grid threw some acid blood from its tail, which distracted the Yautja long enough for Grid to find a better position, Grid leaped at the Predator again, but it was quick to react, and fired a net, ensnaring the Alien, and cutting into its skin, giving the Xenomorph its trademark scarring.
But, thanks to the acidic blood, the net broke open, and Grid attacked again, killing him with a Headbite.
After the last two remaining Humans escaped from the Scar Predator and some Drones, they leapt across a broken bridge, as Sebastian was helping Lex up, Grid appeared, and dragged him away to the nest for impregnation.
Then just as Scar caught up with her, Grid lead an attack on them, but Scar now had a Plasmacaster, and fought them off.
The Queen then called out, and Grid abandoned the attack to free the Queen, Grid and the others injured the Queen so her acid would melt the restraints.
With the Queen free, Grid returned his attention to Scar and Lex, pursuing them as they fled to the surface after setting the Predators self-destruct inside the Egg chamber.
Grid attacked one final time, but Scar and Lex managed to slip away using an emergency winch that hauled them up the access tunnel in the ice, leaving Grid behind. Grid was then obliterated when Scar's Self-Destruct Device detonated, destroying the pyramid and the other Xenomorph Drones in the process.

So I would say that Grid has to be one of my favourite Xenomorphs ever, as I really like the design they used for them in AVP, and it’s my next favourite after the original.
One thing I think was a bit of a shame though, was how I didn’t feel Grids death was satisfying enough, and think it should have been something more than just getting blown up with the other Drones.
Originally, Grid was going to almost reach the top of the ice tunnel, then get blown up, and it was one of his fingers Scar was going to snap off to mark Lex with, but they decided to change it.
What I think would have been cool, would have been if we actually got a fight between him and Scar as the Self-Destruct was counting down, maybe they could have fought each other, then they could have made it Grid instead who Lex shoots with that anchor-gun, I think that would have been better.
