Huang returns to Kenny's restaurant and learns that the loss of Yu Jian has caused Kenny to be eliminated as Hsin's potential heir. To make things worse, local street thugs have noticed Kenny's weakness in running of the local protection rackets and have started muscling in on the rackets themselves. Since he wants Huang to help him deal with that problem, he sends him to the backstreet behind the restaurant where he is met by Ling who provides him with a rudimentary combat training and gives him his first handgun before the two are sent to stop the extortion of another one of Kenny's rackets. During the confrontation with the thugs as they try to drag the business owner behind the building to beat him up, Ling is shot dead with Huang engaging them in an shootout as he tries to save the business owner...
