after the events of GTA 4 Roman decided to leave Liberty City with his wife mallorie and his kid in 2009 But His cousin Niko refused And decided to stay in LC to work with Jacob and his other Friends.
In 2010 Niko Meet a guy called Armando He was asked to work for him and at that time Niko had no choice since he needed the money but the family was called the Angelo Crime family aka a new name Niko didn't know it was Jimmy P's Mafia until after the ambush' he realize that something was off and he was with Jimmy P all along.
so in 2011 after a year of their partnership between Nico and Armando
Armando decided to send niko in a mission while he was on his way to visit his cousin anyway.
The deal this time was with the Cipriani Crime family Owned by Toni Cipriani and his brother Vito and he wanted to get Niko killed cuz he will find out about his secret sooner or later so he made a deal with tommy to get them both killed but he failed and niko survived and get away with his cousin roman
Btw this is a remake of the original mission 1 an old friend of VC2 series and yes i'm remaking the whole series
