Strive returns with a new character...and this one is cross-media! Unika debuted in the Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime, a mysterious foe that ends up clashing with Sin a lot. I haven't watched the anime at all but I did learn of the most important bits. Unika is actually the daughter of Ky and Dizzy from an alternate, ruined future, groomed by the anime's villain to go to the past and kickstart the Second Crusades. So she's also part gear and has a host of abilities she's gained from her parents.

Unika kinda feels like this game's attempt at an auto-combo or like "simple control" character. She has some built-in follow ups to some moves that can be cancelled into a special with a shortcut input, which also powers them up. With projectiles, an advancing slide, a big overhead and a strong slash move that evokes Michael Sword, she's got a bit of everything, but seems a bit on the slow side, especially in the air.

I had fun with her, and I might return to her at points. Certainly liked her more than Venom! That said, I'm really holding out hope on getting that ranked update soon, alongside our guest character, Lucy Cyberpunk! I might go back and do some Street Fighter soon but for now, hope you enjoyed this brief channel resurrection!
