Luminous Avenger iX is a spin-off to the Gunvolt series where anti-hero Copen is the main playable character.

The game's content has your general special stages and boss rush but there's more to it. If one completes all 19 stages through score attack (yep clearing boss rush without prevasion at a low level). You can unlock vs Boss stages where it is simply a 1v1 boss fight.

It turns out that if you hold both weapon select buttons before hitting ENGAGE you can fight against their harder counterparts. The normal 6 Falcons and *Final Boss* have hard variants through the 6 special stages and boss rush. Blade's secret is taken from story mode so nothing new.

This leads to the 2 remaining bosses.
Giant Lola and Butterfly Effect.
This is the only way to take on their harder counterparts.
