Sonic Adventure 2: DCHDMI Music swapped playthrough. Hero story
This video WAS meant to be up on June 23rd to celebrate Sonic's 28th Anniversary (and Sonic Adventure 2's 18th Anniversary).
The majority of this year was modifying my Dreamcast to be future proof as this console now has the following:
DCHDMI - currently the ONLY digital to digital solution with excellent image quality.
GDEmu - Dreamcast's GD-Rom drives are unreliable in the long run and unlike the PS1/PS2, there's not many spares to pickup easily. GDEmu is an optical drive emulator where it uses SD Cards instead of discs.
Why is the music swapped?
GDEmu (and USB-GD ROM) can play modified GDI rips such as music edits, etc. The biggest advantage is not having to use up a single writable CD to try it out on the real system.
The original idea was to use Dark Story stage BGMs over the Hero story stages but there were some unique stage themes such as an action stage inside the pyramid and a shooting stage at a street so tracks like those were replaced with tracks from Sonic Adventure 1.
