Is Power Reaper viable and good in WvW post-July 7th balance patch? I stress tested Power Reaper in this compilation. Lots of outnumbered and zerg/blob fights with BBC open & closed squads. There's also bonus content at the end with Power Core Guardian gameplay, be sure to check it out.

I've tried many variations of these builds. For weapon choices, I feel Staff is a must in WvW just because of the amount of time you spend beyond 900 range. So the choice comes down to Greatsword or Axe/Focus, both are viable.

Greatsword: GS 5 pull is great, when you can pull off that money shot and chain into a spike, it feels really good. If you can generate lots of downs inside a blob, Gravedigger spam is nice when shroud is on cooldown.

Axe/Focus: Axe 3, Axe 2, and Focus 5 are consistent big damage that you can cycle off when you weapon swap. Spinal Shivers pop for big damage, in the vid you'll see I Axe 2 and followed up with a 13k Spinal Shivers hit.

Personally I prefer Axe/Focus + Staff, because GS is inconsistent. I like consistency and I want damage that hits when I weapon swap. My DPS goes down the longer I camp GS, you'll see in the first fight where I Gravedigger spam on downs. Compare that to simply shroud auto, there's no comparison. Use weapons that you feel most comfortable with. As long as you get the results you're looking for, then it's viable.

Lich vs Chilled to the Bone elite, Lich can cleave downs very well, especially with lich 3 triggering Dread's quickness you can spam lich 1 very fast. But there's just so much projectile hate, so many reflects, it's inconsistent (as you can see in the vid). Where as Chilled to the Bone is something you can spam more, add it to your rotation, and you can use more often. But it doesn't do damage, so it's a huge trade-off. Much like weapon choices, you should pick the elite that works for you.

Power Reaper feels really good post-July 7th balance patch. It's important to keep in mind that in order to unleash Power Reaper's potentials, you need to have a squad comp that compliments them, and a commander that knows how to drive them. I play in a squad full of great players and clutch support. You can't force a build to work if you lack a proper squad comp and driving style.

In my opinion Power Reaper is S-tier and extremely viable in the current meta. The cleave potential is unmatched. In the right squad comp I consistently peak over 30k/s on bombs, my highest was 44k/s. Scourge max out at around 22-24k/s if you happen to triple wells and pop breach in a choke. There isn't a class that can generate more downs and finish more downs than a properly played Power Reaper at the moment. I personally have been enjoying the change of pace.
