They hacked the doorbells! Two men have been charged with computer crimes and identity theft for hacking into Ring Doorbell security cameras and swatting the people who lived there! And not only were they swatting, they were streaming it while it happened! They reportedly hacked into users’ Yahoo accounts to gain access to 12 Ring systems across 9 different states. To prevent swatting like this, the FBI advised the owners of surveillance cameras like Ring to beef up their passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
