95Today we finally continue the story of the Dot Hack games that released on the PlayStation 2. I already archived Hack Infection, so please be sure to check that out so you understand the story up to this point. I will leave a link to that video in the comments.
We still play as Kite and take part in the MMORPG known as The World. More and more players are ending up in a coma after playing it and we have to dive deeper into the game's code to unravel the mystery. This time we go to a brand new city and will delve into many dungeons while meeting a whole bunch of new characters. Its very cool to see how the lore and story continues over from the previous game and it felt like entering a warm bath as I was reunited with BlackRose, Piros, Elk, Mistral and all the other characters. It was cool to see that you could still play with all the previous characters from the first game as well as the new additions.
I was hoping for a bit more improvement in terms of UI as the game just consists of a lot of pausing to give orders, use items or summon skills. It also was a bit dissapointing that we only got to explore one new city instead of more. The story has some very cool twists and turns and there are even some cool cameos from the anime that came on the discs when this released back in the day.
Hopefully this year I will be able to archive the third game in the series so that we all can find out how the story will continue.
