Nooooooooooooo, you can just walk into the lave or move into from the movement of your own attacks.

So far Hades is very good but it suffers from the curse of all roguelikes and roguelites, run abandonment.
I had a great run before this where in the 2nd or 3rd chamber I got the best early game boon, reflect dash which gives you effectively something like i-frames againt enemy attacks and even deals damage from the reflected attacks and by itself ontop.

But right the next chamber I fought 4 fat ghosts and got the spear special's angel wrong, getting hit 4 times in a row and it made me give up and abandon the run, just letting them kill me because I was annoyed at taking so much damage, getting me to not far above low health right after getting a great boon.

This kind of frustration that makes you abandon an attempt because it feels like a waste of time to even continue trying is always a major problem in games like this.
At least in Hades you frequently get permanent rewards that matter even in small amounts cause they pale up until you can get a permanent upgrade from them but it can still be an issue.
