Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was released in 2007 as a sequel to Half-Life 2: Episode 1. Upon its release, it received critical acclaim. In this game, the player must make their way to the White Forest resistance base to stop a super portal from opening too large and letting Combine reinforcements from reaching earth. This game and Episode 1 were developed simultaneously, allowing for streamlining of the story and use of the exact same technologies. This and Half-Life 2: Episode 1 were both supposed to be one game called Half-Life 2: Aftermath, but was changed after Valve planned to make the game episodic. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 is available on Steam for PC, Mac, and Linux for $7.99, or as part of the Orange Box on Xbox 360, PS3, and Steam for PC, Mac, and Linux for $19.99.
