A "remaster" of Half-Life on the Source engine, utilizing its improvements. The game is really just a port of Half-Life 1 to Source, rather than a complete remake of the game with new assets like many fans expected, as opposed to Counter-Strike: Source. The game and CS:S were bundled with Half-Life 2 upon its release, and HL:S was released on the same day as HL2.

The game was originally released to see how modders would experience if they attempted to bring their Half-Life 1 mods to Source. This game was the first test, and they did the same test with Counter-Strike: Source.

While the game is mostly the same as the original with the same gameplay and movement, it does make use of 3D skyboxes, and improved physics, effects and graphics by Source. I also feel like the game is faster-paced in a way. The game was well-received at its initial launch, with little to no issues. However, more bugs began to rise as the game was hit with the SteamPipe update like Valve's other games, which the game is mainly infamous for today, as most of the fanbase is constantly hating on this game, mostly for the glitches. They basically threw everything good about this game into the dump, even acknowledging the fact that Valve is ignoring this game.

I've said this before, and I'll say this again: I love this game. I am amazed by how much better the graphics are, and even the use of physics in the game and ragdolls. And it really hurts to see people hate on this game just because of its glitches. It's like seeing people hate on games like Sonic Origins or Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at their launch just because of the many bugs they may have encountered, which gives me a mysterious headache.

I decided to do both the training course and main campaign in this video to save time. Also, I am playing without the HD models this time. If you were triggered just because I used the HD models in all my GoldSrc gameplays, I hope you're happy now.
