I love your content.
So I’ve been playing D&D for about two years, and in that time have DMed a few times, two campaigns, one homebrew and one Storm King’s Thunder, that fell apart because of out of game issues between players. So for my third attempt I picked a handful of the guys I enjoyed gaming with from the local game store, and invited them to join it, figuring that having a more experienced and mature group would help avoid that happening again. And so far it has, we seven or so sessions in and we all are still really enjoying it, but I think that I might have opened a can of worms that, I’m not entirely sure how to handle. After the party killed most of an ork tribe, the remaining few managed to capture them before they recovered. Since the tribe was now leaderless, one of my players, playing a half-orc has managed to take up the mantle of tribe leader, and is seeking to expand his tribe, as there are only the few remaining. This is something I offered him as it was not out of the personality of the character he was playing. Now the everyone is supportive and excited about this but my fear is that this aspect of the game will start to overshadow the development of the other characters. So I’m looking for some advise on how I can make this tribe meaningful to the story without it becoming, lets follow the half-orc around as he explores looking for more “monsters” to join his tribe. They are about to reach level 5.
My current idea is that they have also captured a small ruin that they have somewhat turned into a base, so the tribe can stay there while the players go adventuring and they may find new recruits allow the way that will provide some bonus to the stronghold; alchemist, smith, guard captain, ext.
