Halo: Combat Evolved Retrospective | Console's Greatest FPS
When it comes to console first-person shooters, Bungie's incredible Halo: Combat Evolved changed everything.
As the new millennium dawned, consoles continued to lag a long way behind their PC counterparts. Games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on the Nintendo 64 proved there was plenty of potential, and the PlayStation had one or two notable releases itself, such as Medal of Honour and Quake 2, but the FPS gap between platforms remained significant throughout the 90s.
Half Life, Quake 3, and a wealth of other PC titles were leaps and bounds beyond anything console gamers could get their hands on.
Thank goodness, then, for Halo, which demonstrated once and for all that anything PC could do, consoles could do too.
